Just used the BrewBag for the first time a few days ago; the fit was perfect inside my kettle and I had no issues using it. The gloves worked fantastic, never had any issues with heat while squeezing the bag. Clean-up was simple.
Ordering process was a snap, and delivery was prompt!
This is my second bag (bought a bigger kettle! ) and I must say these things are amazing! I can't imagine a brew day without these and to think I never have to worry about a stuck sparge ever again is amazing thanks again guys
Brewed a stout in my brand new 20 gallon kettle that uses a temp probe. I used 8 gallons of water. The probe was sitting at the 5 gallon mark. I took special precaution while lifting the bag out. The probe nicked the bagged. I was very disappointed with the one and done bag.
I have two of these in constant use and they work great. I'll be ordering a couple custom ones to fit my apple press as well. Great product!
I wanted to contact you. I have three brew in a bags. I love the first two. The last one you shipped frayed out the first time I used it last week. Something was wrong with the quality. If you can replace with better quality, I would give it a five like the other two.
I received a bag and a Hop bag for Christmas but the bag didn't fit my kettle. The folks made the exchange painless and quickly. I brewed my first batch of beer ever this weekend and the bag made the entire process very easy. It's also simple to clean which is an added bonus. I can't recommend this bag enough.
I initially screwed up my bag size. Easiest return/replacement I've ever dealt with. :-)
Second the comments on the pulley.
3 batches deep and working great. Easy to use and easy to clean. Get the pulleys and the gloves; I don't see how you could use the bag without them.
works great! added pulley system and it is a nice way to work the brew.
This bag is all your gonna need to pull off half time brew days. I did install the pully system to lift the bag from the mash tun/ brew pot. I let it drip drain in to the pot while firing up the burner for boiling. Little squeezes after mashing drew out remaining wort. I milled my own grain at .23 and my OG was over the max OG by 2 points of the Gravity range. Im in a brew club and already the traditional brewers are quizzing me on tannins due to the fine milling. I told them I dont sparge I just pull the bag up when I'm done. What tannins? Just kegged the beer I made with the Brew Bag and the beer is fantastic. Worth the money! If I need another I will ordering another if that happens.
Made my first batch with the bag! What a fantastic purchase i did. I'm recomending it to my friends brewers
This bag holds the grain, it lets you squeeze the grain. It fit my 60L pot no problem, plus all the grain for a huge mash. Quality all around, would recommend
My fist bag has been outstanding and still going strong. My second one broke at the first brew, I will try to get a patch.
A 1" hole was opened in my brewbag during first use. There's no replacement for real hardware I guess. Had the tear been larger the expensive mash would've gone down the drain.
Used the brew bag in my 30 gallon kettle. Had 50 Lbs grain dry (100-150 lbs wet). Had to use a pulley system to lift from pot but the bag held the weight without a problem. Great product.
I typically brew 10g & 5g batches (10 g system with pump and my original Igloo rig) simultaneously which takes a minimum of 5 hrs. After running across an add for BIAB I figured I would try it. I have 6 beers on tap so one would say I'm an avid brewer. My first run was with a 5 g batch that took me a total of 3 hrs, including cleaning the single pot I used. Other than a slight decrease in efficiency, which I have now adjusted for, I wish I would have thought of this sooner. After a total of three runs at 5 g I recently brewed two 5 g batches simultaneously and my efficiency is at the cost of about another pound of grain per boil. A very small price to pay to save at least two hours of your time. Oh, and now only two pots to clean. Most importantly, the beers are turning out just as good
Very impressive quality and construction, and it cleans effortlessly. I had done a few BIAB batches prior to purchasing this bag, so when the time came to do the dreaded, time-consuming, cleaning the grain bag, I was AMAZED at how the grains rinsed right off the bag within seconds. Save yourself the trouble and don't get the grain bag for a few bucks that the big online stores sell - this bag is king. Wish I got one sooner!
Well made product co. owner was very knowlegible about his product and its use was worth the purchase price and most remarkable thing was it was fourth of July I left an email and he called me not a half hour after now thats dedicated service I give him a+ and highly recommend his product and service!
Made a peach Wine with fresh peaches in a 10 gallon container. Did my whipping with a stir stick and it worked great. When done fermenting just lifted the bag out and drained until just pulp left. Worked great thanks.
Bought 2 - did a simultaneous brew of 2 different beers. Couldn't have been easier. Make sure you use a water calculator... I didn't do that and didn't end up hitting my OG target on one. Efficiency was amazing though. Cleanup took seconds. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my brew bags!
My second brew bag from you, oddly this is slightly larger than the first though presumably the same model. I'm OK with that but for the sake of your own QC I'd shoot for consistency. Excellent product
You have to use it to believe it! Best brew day.
I was very well satisfied by the excellent quality of the Brew Bag I purchased. It worked very well in my first batch of beer that I made using this product.
great service - great product. thanks a bunch!
I could not be happier with my Brew Bag as it helped me to shave almost two hours off of my brew day last weekend, 4 hrs from 6 hrs. And my efficiency improved slightly compared to my old methods to 76% vs 72%! The Brew Bag easily held 24# of grain without breaking a sweat so I guess it's time to push the limits with an imperial stout up next :)
Have brewed one batch with the bag. Worked just fine. Seems strong enough to last awhile. Clean up was easier than I expected. Rinse well with fresh water, throw it in the dryer and it came out like new. Very pleased.
Shipped the next day. Works great. It's very strong and cleans up as new. Worth every penny.
Very happy with this, brewed yesterday my first one, and it was perfect. Then, washed with clean water, ... it's clean like a brand new one.
Thank you !
I brew 3 vessel on induction burners and use 8 gallon pots with a recirc system. I have mashed in The Brew Bag for the past 2 years. I used to use a "pillow case" style bag that was of a much loser weave than Rex's Brew Bag but found that lots of particulate matter got through the bag into my wort. The Brew Bag allows none of that particulate matter to get through! If you recirc your wort during the mash, however, that tight weave can cause problems. To maintain a constant flow to your pump, use a thinner mash (I use 1.8qt/lb) and it works GREAT! I have also used The Brew Bag in my boil kettle the last two batches - NO more cold break sludge keeping me from getting all of my wort out of the kettle and very little gets into the fermenter. Mash-in-a-Bag, Boil-in-a-Bag! Oh, and did I mention, this bag holds up like no other! I'm sold!
Very nice product. I've made two, 5 gal batches with the bag and it works great. I'm doing my BIAB mash in a cooler instead of my brew kettle, so I might purchase a smaller bag that will fit better in the cooler.
Great Quality. Perfect mesh size for good flow combined with limited grain pass through. Makes clean up a breeze. Should last a life time.
I love my brew bag. Super durable and easy to clean. Worth the price 100%
Ordered my brew bag for my 10 gallon kettle and it arrived very quickly. After getting a few tips from my local brew shop guru, I was off to brewing. All I can say is Wow! The whole process is so much easier and quicker. The quality of the bag and the straps make it a cinch to use. Tip - order the EZ hoist and high temp gloves, too - so you can raise the bag to give it a big squeeze to get all the goodness out of your brew. Couldn't be more pleased with the results and I hit nearly 90% efficiency on my first day. Cleaning the bag was incredibly easy. Looking forward to my next brew day
I've been brewing for many years. We have a 20 gallon 3 tier system in our garage but that is for big batches to be split with friends and well it makes for a long traditional all grain brew day of 8+ hours. The brew in a bag cut our time down to 5.5 hours including clean up and this was with a 90 min mash and 90 min boil! We do 11 gallon batches in a 22.5 gallon kettle and the brew bag was custom made for our kettle and looks great. Incredibly durable and the handles are so convenient and strong and make for easy lifting with the ez hang hoist (I think that is the name of the product.... It's sold on this website) that allows you to easily lift the heavy brew bag! I have already shared this site link with a brewing friend of mine and I suggest anyone buy it! The price is amazing for the quality of this bag! Buy now.... Your brew day will be happier and beer great! I would recommend this to anyone looking to jump to all grain as well as for the very advanced to pro brewer looking for a more convenient and efficient way to brew without compromising mash efficiency or flavor or quality in anyway.
I've used the Brew Bag twice now for 10-12# grain bills. Both times efficiency came out ~80%. The bag is high quality material. Quality seams, hemming, etc. seems very durable. The "size my kettle is quite a bit deeper than I need it to be, so I am constantly adjusting to keep the grain bed at the proper depth in case I need to fire my kettle due to heat loss, etc. Yes, I realize this is not recommended by the company. Otherwise a GREAT product.
I've used my brew bag once. It is very well made but I bought this to use in my mash ton cooler and things didn't go smoothly at all. I usually use a bazooka screen and have had 1 stuck sparge in multiple batches. The bag promotes no stuck sparges. I removed my tube thinking it would be ok, big mistake. The bag was sucked in my ball valve causing a stuck sparge. After trying to raise the bag up, which by the way is very difficult to keep in place while adding water/grains I had to remove the entire bag and put my bazooka tube in. This was not fun. Once I got my tube in it was able to sparge. I ended up having to use zip ties to secure the handles of the bag to keep the bag in place. Not trying to discourage anyone from by this item, but just want to give honest feedback. Hoping things go better on my second use of the bag.
I had been struggling with a solution for my HERMS. I use a solid Norcal false bottom, and it allows massive flow, but it lets grain particles get into the boil kettle when I sparge. I needed something to trap all of the grain particles, especially when I do a no-sparge beer, as the particles start coming like crazy as the mash bed drains down. The brewinabag works perfectly for all of my mashes now. I can use it with massive flow rates through my HERMS, and it keeps the wort super clear with no particles in the wort, even when no-sparging. It is nylon, so I hope it is a quality food grade, but it seems to work perfectly for mashing. I have even been tempted to just try it on top of my pickup tube without a false bottom to reduce my "dead space", but I haven't done that yet. It is great flow for HERMS and great quality. It will reduce the size of your mashtun a bit, as it traps the grain inside of it and does not fit the pot perfectly around the edge, but it is a fair exchange.
Simple to use, strong and easy to clean.
First off let me say that my order was promptly filled and shipped. The kettle I use is a 15 gallon Megapot 1.2 and the Brew Bag fit it perfectly. The construction and quality is excellent. The mesh is much finer than a paint strainer bag I was using previously and as a result much less trub got into the brew kettle. I use a professional stock pot stove with propane as my heat source. My only disappointment is that one of the lifting straps melted on the first use. I was still able to lift the bag using the other 3 straps. Overall I really like the Brew Bag and would definitely recommend it. Brew in a bag is the way to go.
Makes my brewday so much easier. Its well worth the cost. And customer service was very satisfactory.
great products highly recommend this to anyone brewing BIAB .
I use this for a 20Qt pot. I do stove top partial mash. The bag is sturdy and easy to clean. The fine mesh is better than anything I have used until now. Very satisfied.
On my sixth brew and the bag works perfectly and still looks brand new! Thinking of ordering another in case of an accident because I couldn't do without now.
I've done about 10 brews now. Mash comes out great every time! Love the fine mesh. Looking to get a larger one soon.
Had one custom made. Tough as nails and works very well. No regrets here!
I use the Brew Bag at my commercial microbrewery. I use a custom size for 55 gallon batches. Keeps things clean, no stray grain or hop material leaves the kettles. Very durable, too. Grain billse exceed 100 lbs dry.
My fault for tearing my first bag on the inside of my kettle thermometer probe (Blichmann 15-gallon) -- other than that the use of this bag together with the pulley has taken a huge amount of stress out of my brewing life. I removed the thermometer probe and now I'm free to stir stir stir during the mash and squeeze squeeze squeeze afterwards with barely a "hit" in efficiency. I've done 5-gallon recipes in my kettle mash tun with grain bills in excess of 22 pounds (that's the dry weight of course) and haven't had any issues with the bag or the pulley showing any signs of stress either.
My custom-sized bag is perfect for my kettle. It is the perfect size and has enough extra height to pull over the outside of the kettle so I can secure it without it falling completely into the kettle. I've been very impressed with how sturdy the material and the stitching are. I can dump 35 lbs. of grain into it for the mash and pull the whole thing up (weighing a lot more than 35, being soaked with wort). I can twist the bag around to the point where it takes quite a bit of effort. The mesh and the stitching hold together VERY well. Granted, I've only used it for three brews as of this review, but two of them were 10 gallon batch imperials, with huge grain bills. 32 and 35 lbs dry. I'd highly recommend this product to anyone who might be on the fence. This is a huge time and equipment saver. Who needs a mash tun? This is the best way to be a minimalist while brewing all-grain beer.
Works like a charm, and strong!
Fits the pot great. The only thing I would change is maybe
Make it a bit shorter ,by the time I hoist it up with a pulley
It's barlely able to drain.Granted I have a low ceiling,but
Most of us are relegated to the basement.A few clips for the edge of the pot would be great.BIAB is really the way
To go the pros far outweigh the cons.Excellent product
