I was having some recent e4 error issues with my Brewers Edge Mash & Boil due to too much sediment getting through the grain basket. Thought I’d give the brew bag a try to reduce the sediment getting through and clogging up the system and it worked perfectly! No more e4 errors to ruin my brew day and I nailed my projected OG. Another unexpected positive is my clean up time has been reduced immensely. No more fussing around with getting spent grain out of the tiny crevasses of the mash basket - simply rinse out the brew bag and hang it to dry!
I bought this to use on my Grainfather, and after (2) brews I can confirm that the pump no longer clogs! It's been such a relief and time saver at the end of brewing.
This is not the first bag I bought here and that is why I bought this one. I have a custom bag from when I used a square cooler for a mash tun. That bag was, without hyperbole, a total game changer for me. I continued to use it when I purchased the Brewzilla 65L and it continued to be awesome. When I tore the bag I may have shed a tear but just came to the website to order a new one. When I saw they had a Brewzilla 65L specific bag, I ordered it. This bag is not the same as the old bag. First of all, it does not fit the Brewzilla 65L. I'm not sure if it is intended to be used differently or what but I use mine with the malt pipe so that I can sparge without a free swinging bag hanging around. I would fold the top of my custom bag over the rim of the the Brewzilla and put the lid on. This bag will not fit over the Brewzilla. No problem, just put it around only the malt pipe....doesn't really fit that either. I was able to get it over it with a struggle, barely, and it is so tight that I fully expect the malt pipe edge to cut it one brew day. Secondly, the material is not the same as the previous bag. The previous bag was soft and pliable. This one is totally different. I think it would stand up on it's own, it's quite rigid. Third, the mesh does not seem as fine. I had a large amount of fine particulate in the wort which I have never had before with the previous bag. Lastly, the mesh is folded and bunched up over the straps where it is sewn down in a seemingly haphazard way, not nice and flat like the previous bag. This wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't for the fine particulate floating around which gets through the mesh and then is impossible to get out because of the bunched up material sewn down to the load bearing straps.
I'm really impressed with the bag after 2 brews. It's a huge quality upgrade for my old worn down homemade BAIB bag. It fits the Anvil malt basket perfectly, with a little bit of extra length for those that want to fold it over the edges of the basket. I recirculate and am able to do so with a good flow rate because the bag prevents stuck mashes. It's MUCH easier to clean the bag than the malt basket! This is an absolute must of an add on for the Anvil Foundry system.
I bought the Brew Bag to serve as a liner within my Brewer's Edge Mash & Boil electric unit. Moving from extract to all-grain for the first time, I was really concerned about getting a stuck sparge, especially because I also wanted to go for a finer grain crush help with brewhouse efficiency. The Brew Bag fits perfectly and it worked perfectly for my first mash - and no stuck sparge. And best of all, removing the grains was really as easy as advertised - I just dumped them out into a trash bag and almost everything came out of the bag with that one motion. I just needed to give the bag a light rinse and let it dry and now it's ready for the next brew day.
I highly recommend the Brew Bag!
