Features of The Brew Bag® for Coolers
NEED DIMENSIONS - L x W x H - inside Bottom and Outside Top
Fit perfectly and worked well in my 48qt Coleman cooler. Easy cleaning!
I've used my brew bag for fifteen batches now with grain bills up to thirty pounds, even if it didn't give me beautifully clear wort upon starting my runoff, which it totally does, the ease of mash tun cleanup alone makes it worth the money. No more scooping, just lift, dump, and you're done.
I just used this bag with a 15+ pound grist bill and it handled it like a champ. Reinforced seams and tight fine mesh make this the best bag in the business. Spend a little more, and treat yourself to an American made bag that works as hard as you do. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.
I've done two brews with the Brew Bag and it works really well. Easier than the batch sparge that I used to do. Highly recommended.
Took a only a week to get to New Zealand; it was exciting to follow its progress. Sparge runs clear after a couple of litres, easy to clean out the grain and then washing is easy. It does what they say. This it is has the feel of a quality product made by people who know and care about home brewers. I'd rank it as one of my best great brewing investments. I'd like to say it will make my beer great again but it wasn't half bad to start off with.
i bought this to do brew-in-a-bag-in-a-cooler and it works great. same efficiency as i had with batch sparging, maybe a touch better and a lot quicker and easier cleanup. good heavy duty bag and cleans up really nice.
I had high hopes for my Brew Bag based on word of mouth. Somehow, it managed to exceed my expectations. The quality is fantastic and it fit my cooler perfectly. I'm only one brew in, but it worked like a charm. The only issue I had was that I ground some roasted barley into powder and some of it seems to be caught in the straps, but I'm pretty sure a good cleaning will take care of it (and doubt it will have a negative impact anyway). It also shipped much faster than I'd expected for a custom build. Can't recommend this enough!
Great item! Makes cleaning on brew day easy!
Very nice product... worked great
Works exactly as promised. I'm very happy with it. Cleanup is a breeze.
I've brewed twice with it so far and it works great. The mesh is tight and does a good job filtering. I was impressed with how the spent grain didn't stick making clean up surprisingly easy. Fast shipping and excellent quality on the materials and construction. Good overall experience.
I love the convenience of the biab for my mash tun. Only problem is there is a small hole next to the web stitching on the bottom of the bag. Thought it's not big enough to be a concern at the moment. Hopefully it will not run or rip.
As a recent convert to all grain, I was absolutely how easy the brew bag was to use! Easy to order, fit perfectly, extremely easy to clean (which we all know is a major plus)! I won't brew without one!
As always, a great product, perfect fit and looks like it will last forever.
Purchaser from UK - bag good and well received as a Christmas present! (I was disappointed to have to pay significant customs fee on top of overseas packing/postage)
Haven't used it yet but it looks a lot better than the one I tried to make.
Just when I thought I'd have to make the expensive move to a new mash tun, the brew bag changed all that. My old mash tun is doing better than ever thanks to this product. I've since removed the old mesh screen line from the mash tun (that was a pain to fiddle with). When I got to brewing on my old setup in my new house I immediatly started having problems with effeciency. My mash efficency plummetted to an abysmal 60% (on a good day). As soon as I got the Brew Bag, things changed in a big way. Now I'm averaging 77% efficency over the last 4 brews I've done. If I can go from a 60% average to a 77% average by swapping out one $45 piece of equipment, I call that a big win! I'll soon be purchasing another one for my Keggle and likely one more to use as a liner on my racking buckets. With as fine of a mesh as these bags have, I'm about 99% sure I can add more clarity and less sediment to my brews as well. That's a win/win! I'm proud to support this company and a fantastic product! I've been singing the praises of the Brew Bag at all my brew-club meetings. Now, ever better, my 2 local brew shops have started carrying the Brew Bag as a regular product. Awesome! Thanks so much to this company! Keep up the good work!
Great quality and easy to use. Well worth the money!
I loved using the brew bag. It increased the efficiency of my system from about 62 to almost 70 while changing nothing else. I highly recommend it
Great purchase! Arrived quickly, amazing quality. No problems whatsoever.
Finally got a chance to use it for the first time and it worked perfectly. Really didn't even need to vorlauf with how clear the wort was right off the bat. Cleanup was a breeze. I have an odd sized cooler and Rex called me up to confirm dimensions and when it came, it fit exactly right. Great service and a great product!
We brewed this past weekend of a 10g all grain batch. We purchased the Brew bag for a cooler mash tun.
The wort came out of the mash tun exceptionally clear and free of particles. So clear that it removed the need to vourlauf any wort. This is going to make the all grain process some much easier.....Absolutely wonderful product. It also cleaned up exceptionally well....Looking forward to the new brew day.
I have only used my new bag twice so far but it has been wonderful to have. It makes clean up so easy. I made a 5 gallon batch and a 10 gallon batch. Super easy with 5 gallon batch. Bag was really heavy with the 10 gallon batch so you need some kind of ratchet system. I love it and highly recommend it to other brewers.
Brewed with the bag twice so far and it is excellent. Quick delivery, great quality, easy to use and clean. I use a Coleman Extreme cooler for my mash tun (no manifold) and have zero deadspace with the bag. Makes my brew day much more pleasurable.
I ordered my Brew Bag for a rectangular cooler, it arrived on time and was exactly what I had hoped for, a high quality construction, reusable, mesh bag. I haven't had a chance to use it just yet, but hopefully in the next week or two, I'll have a couple batches on the go.
I have 70-quart igloo cooler. I do no-sparge brewing. I use no manifold and my dead space is less than .12 of a gallon. I mill very fine and keep the efficiency at 70% to 74%. I do both 5 and 10-gallon batches. Clean up is easy. Left and dump. Wash it down as your beer is boiling. Later I collect the hot water run-off from cooling the beer and do a better job of washing the bag. This way its ready for the next brew day.
It would be a 5 but they need to do a better job with packaging. The brew bag came in a soft mail envelope. Mine happen to be ripped really bad. So much so that post office tapped the enveloping backup. If it was in a small box may not have had that problem. Brew bag was ok beside large grease spot that took some work to clean up.
Wow what a difference this bag has made to my brew day.
1. So much easier clean up. Walk the bag to the compost pile instead of the whole mash tun
2. Much easier to clean up mash tun. Rinse and quick wash. No more scraping off dried grains off the side of the mash tun
3. Rinse the bag off and throw it in the wash, looks like new
4. Just tried my first no sparge batch. 9 gallons of strike water and let it drain using a simple pully. Super easy! (See picture)
5. With the items listed above and the no sparge method it probably has saved me a full hour in my brew day.
6. Well worth the money! Love it!
I've used the Brew Bag in 2 brews so far, and I can't imagine working without it. My process is streamlined, clean up is fast and easy, and my beer at the end is clean and great tasting!
Love the simplicity of BIAB (or in this case BIAB cooler). It's a well-built and durable filter that doesn't require a vorlauf during sparging--the wort instantly comes out clear. Super simple cleanup too--lift the bag out and rinse my cooler/mash tun out. I batch sparge, and my cooler setup simply has a stainless elbow pickup (no manifold necessary), works terrific.
I haven't had a chance to brew with my bag just yet but the fitment is second to none. Have used BIAB before so I'm confident that it'll work great as well.
I ordered the Brew bag as a gift for one of my son's. He says 'it works great'. So, I ordered a second one yesterday for another son.
They get together to brew every month.
Only one batch some so far, but it worked great and cleaned up easily. I have an Igloo Max 5-day cooler, and it holds the temp at exactly 153 deg for the full hour. No sparge, just drained wort into the boiling pot. Added 10% more grain to get the desired gravity. Almost as easy as extract!
Picked up a bag to fit my rectangular Coleman cooler (10 gallon) after reading a positive write-up on Brulosphy.com (http://brulosophy.com/2015/06/17/brew-in-a-bag-in-a-cooler-reviewing-the-brew-bags-mlt-filter/), and promptly put it to work on a 5 gallon blonde ale. This was my first step-up to a cooler BIAB rig (done kettle many times for 2 gallons), and it worked out perfectly: My grains mashed for 90m at 148F and drained 5.25 gallons of wonderful, pale wort into the kettle.
Clean up was ridiculously simple, even with ~10lbs of wet grain, it was just a matter of lifting it out and dumping in the compost, rinsing, washing with mild detergent, hanging to dry. I can't imagine batch sparging, now - this is just so simple. A++
At first sight the cost of the bag appears to be on the high side but in my case it was custom fit which no one else offered so their is a tremendous value in that alone. I have only used the bag with one brew so far and I have found the material and construction to be of high quality. The built in straps in the bag are great and you can tell that a lot of thought went into design of this product. In all this bag is a great value and I ma very happy with this product.
Excellent service within 3 weeks at my home in Iceland. Fits fine and easy to use and easy to clean. Highly recomended product.
Excellent service, within ten days on my doorstep in Australia. Perfect fit to the cooler and works incredibly well. So easy to clean and extremely sturdy. Highly recommended.
Just brewed for the first time. Didn't have to worry about a bazooka or any other filter. Mashed in the cooler and as soon as I was done with the spent grain, dropped what I didn't use for cooking in the trash. Cleans nicely and dries fast to boot!
Built sturdy - looks like it will last a long time
Glad to have purchased
May purchase more for other brewing equipment
Sturdy and dependable, easy to handle and to clean. With this, I'll never want a false bottom again.
I bought one for my Igloo Ice Cube cooler. It works well, but I tried to drape it over the cooler and then reattach the lid, but it impinged marks onto the mesh which now seem to be small stress areas. So, I just snapped the cover back onto its hinge and draped the bag around that area. So, the top of the beg edge doesn't go outside the top of the cooler edge in the hinge area only. It worked well and I still hit my efficiency (78%), the same as it was without the BIAB method. I ordered a keggle bag to see if I can cut my brew time down even further by doing the mash and boil in a single vessel with no sparge.
This made the jump to all-grain incredibly easy. I got a bag for my Coleman extreme cooler and it fits great. It's construction seems pretty sturdy and I had plenty of confidence in lifting my 20# grain bill with it. Its easy to clean and easy to store. Should this one wear out, I'll be buying another one.
One nice thing about mashing in a bag in a cooler is that you actually end up collecting more wort, and generally get higher efficiency than using a bazooka screen or manifold. I also love being able to use 25-50% rye malt without worrying about a stuck mash. One downside is that the runnings into the kettle for me are much cloudier than if I were to use a manifold and vorlauf. I suspect this would clear up if I were able to whirlpool more effectively, but it does mean ending up with more trub in the fermentor. Because I collected extra wort, fermentor volume loss due to extra trub was not a big issue.
Got a surprisingly big bump in efficiency and brewed a batch with a huge % of malted rye with no stuck sparge of course. Was surprised at how easy it was to clean. This was a huge upgrade over the braided filter I was using.
I changed my braided filter for this and cleanups are so much easier! However, I did notice a loss in efficiency so I will have to re-adjust my water (I noticed a ton of leftover wort when I lift the bag so I'm adding too much probably). With double milled grains and re-adjusted water loss to grains I expect to be getting about the same or more compared to my braided setup. Get one of these! They make mashing/cleaning up so much easier, and the bag cleans up once it dried up too!
I used my custom made 120qt bag this weekend to do back to back 18 Gallon batches with sparge system. The bag worked great and seriously reduced my clean up time. The lifting straps made it very easy to lift out over 70 lbs of wet grain and dump directly in the compost. I turned it inside out, rinsed it in my sanitizer bucket and it was good to go for the next batch. Total brew and clean up time from the usual 12 hrs down to 8hrs. Well worth it!
What a well made product! Much nicer than the pictures show. The materials feel like quality that will last.
I did mash in a bag with a batch sparge. No vorlouf required... Just drain and go. Same for the sparge. No waiting for the grain bed to settle. Just rinse the grains and drain.
Cleanup was much easier than expected as well. Remember to Great product!
I have used my custom rectangular brew bag for about 5 brews now. It has increased my efficiency from mid 70's into the low 80's every time. Barely any need for a vorlauf or recirculation. It also means almost no equipment loss in the mash tun. If you need to you can even squeeze it a bit for that last quart or two. Initially I had a little bit of trouble with it plugging my ball valve, but I fixed it by putting my old perforated tubing down underneath the bag.
Gave my cooler dimensions and it fits great! Good and durable too!
I have been brewing extract for years. I got this bag with the intent to mash for 10 gallon batches. I did my first batch 5 gallons just to get a baseline for my process changes and test efficiency. I got 75% on the fist batch and wasn't very coordinated with the process. I also discovered that it is not going to add very much time to my brewing day. I thought sparing had to take a long time but with the bag is was full open and drained in a minute or two. Wort was clear.
The bag itself is well constructed. Clean up was easy. I just emptied and turned it inside out over the cooler lid and hosed it off (later washed with the rest of the equipment in PBW).
Very high quality product. First mash with it went extremely well. Filters like a champ, and very easy clean-up.
I've only done BIAB, although some with modified sparging, and this is a great upgrade for larger all-grain mashes in a cooler. Fits the cooler perfectly, easy to handle, works great, easy to clean, no complaints! Last mash hit 85% efficiency without sparging. I've consistently gotten 75-90% efficiency with BIAB and this makes it even easier.
There are many reasons why I will keep using The Brew Bag.
1.) It's easy to clean up.
2.) No more stuck sparges.
3.) Improved efficiency.
4.) Built to last; I've done over 10 brews with this bag so far and I have not seen anything that makes me think this bag won't last me for 10, 20, or even 30 more brews.
The concept of this bag is wonderful. After completing just a few brews, the integrity of the bag looks as it may be compromised, or soon will. Where the reinforcement straps are sewn to the the silk screen look as they may pull out in the near future. I'll give it a few more brews to see if it breaks loose or not.
just brewed my first beer with the brew bag's mash tun in a bag setup and hit 80% efficiency! Cleanup was super easy. The bag was extremely well built. Should last for quite a while.
Perfect fit and easy clean up! I have recommended it to our beer club.
Cleaning my picnic cooler MLT used to be a dreaded chore, but no longer. After three batches with the Brew Bag, I'm hitting all of my volumes precisely, no more MLT deadspace, and cleanup is a breeze. Not only that, but customer service is outstanding. I had a question about my order, and it was answered in minutes! Furthermore, they shipped to my APO addresses without ridiculous shipping fees. Highly recommended.
This bag is built tough, easy to clean and makes other cleanup quicker/simpler!!!
Great high quality product! Brewed 10 batches so far, BIAB and Batch Sparge mashes. Fine, durable mesh, strong stitching and reinforced loops for lifting and draining make this a high quality answer to reducing clean-up time and labor. Highly recommended!
Was exactly as I expected. High quality material, excellent stitching, and the customer service was outstanding. I ordered a custom size and it fit perfectly.
Make the coler brewing so much easier.
Missing a star because i wish it could have come with some kind of attachment.
Happy lazzy brewer with it !!
Got a brew bag for my mash cooler. Simplified the process. Easy to use. Very easy to clean. Should have got it years ago! Buy one!
Cleanup is stupid simple, wort is clearer than ever. I use bungee cords around my rectangular mash tun to keep the bag in place, and it works like a dream.
Broken record, here. After extract brewing for a couple of years, I was bored and looking for an easy transition to all grain without having to buy a bunch of extra crap. BIAB seemed to be the answer, but I had already outfitted my 20 gallon Concord kettle with the Bobby M special, a Brew Hardware thermometer, sight glass, and ball valve and didn't want to tear up a nice bag on my thermometer stem. Then Brulosopher did a review on this bag and I immediately knew this was the answer for me. One 70qt Coleman Xtreme fitted with more parts from Bobby M and this fine specimen of a Brew Bag later, I'ma brewing all grain. I went ahead and got the available ratchet pulley to go with it at the same time. Save yourself digging around on Amazon or the big box stores looking to save a buck on the pulley system and just get the one from Brew Bag. I use an eye hook in a garage ceiling stud to hoist the bag up and let it drain. I've only used the bag twice now, but I'm getting 75% brewhouse efficiency. Once more brew to dial it in and a finer than standard LHBS crush and 80% will be cake. I'll stop rambling. The Brew Bag is a no brainer, very well made, and easy to clean. Be a bro. Order the bag.
I use this bag every brew session in my Coleman Xtreme 70qt Cooler. It works better than any previous solution I've used, including the bazooka tube and stainless braid. I even like it better than the false bottom I used in a smaller round cooler.
I never worry about stuck sparges. I get better efficiency in my batch sparges. And it makes it easier to clean since the grain is already in a bag that I can use to transfer.
What more can I say that hasn't already been said? When I started considering going AG, I knew I wanted to BIAB. Luckily, through the powers of reddit and the /r/homebrewing sub, there were reviews of this brew bag by some of the more well-known members, Brulosopher and sufferingcubsfan. After reading their fair and honest reviews, I was sold. I purchased a bag for my 70qt coleman xtreme cooler and when I received it shortly after, it fit perfectly. Brew days are quick and easy with this since cleaning up is a such a breeze. If I was to have any gripe whatsoever with this bag, it would be that sometimes, while doughing in, the bag will decide to slip into the cooler and go for a swim, but that's easily remedied.
But yeah, if you're looking for a bag to go BIAB, look no further. This is the bag you're looking for.
